How Higher or Lower works

A quickfire cricket stats game. Two players, one number, one call: is the right-hand player higher or lower? Three lives, no account, and every innings can be shared.

  1. 1

    Read the left card

One player's career figure is shown: runs, an average, wickets, sixes, whatever the question is about.

  2. 2

    Call the right card

Does the other player have a higher or lower number? Tap a button, or press the arrow keys (H and L also work).

  3. 3

    Protect your lives

A right call scores a point. A wrong call, or a missed clock in Beat the clock mode, costs one of three lives.

  4. 4

    Climb the ranks

Your score earns a rank for the innings, from Rookie to Legend. Your personal best is saved on this device.

Ways to play

Daily challenge

One shared set of questions every day, so everyone's score is directly comparable. A new one arrives at midnight UTC.

Challenge a friend

Any innings can be shared as a link. Your friend gets exactly the same questions, plus your score to beat.

Mix your arenas

Draw questions from ODI, Test, IPL and BBL, one competition or any combination, batting only, bowling only or both.

Beat the clock

Ten seconds a question. Run out and it counts as a wrong call, so trust your instincts.

Questions

▸What happens when two players are level?

You never get asked. The game only pairs players whose figures differ, so every question has one right answer.

▸Where do the numbers come from?

ODI batting figures are a snapshot of Cricinfo career records through 15 August 2026. Test and ODI bowling and highest scores come from CricArcade's own scorecard archive, and IPL and BBL figures from our season records. Afghanistan's ODI players are left out because the archive is missing their recent matches.

▸How do challenge links work?

Every innings is played from a seed, a short code that fixes the order of the questions. The link carries the seed, your score and your settings, so a friend replays the same innings and a fair fight is guaranteed.

▸Do I need an account?

No. Your personal best and daily score are stored in your browser. Nothing is uploaded.
