With the ball, 150 wickets in 3,420 deliveries, at 7.07 runs an over against a league rate of 7.89 for the same seasons: 0.82 an over cheaper than the typical bowler of the time, the mark of a bowler who kept things tight. There were two four-wicket hauls, and the best figures were 5 for 18.
