PATCH 5.4

Cricket Manager, Ratings Follow Performance

Players used to develop by age alone, so a batter piling up runs could stay on the same rating for ever. Growth now depends on age, potential, current rating and how he actually played.

NEW

Cricket Manager: at the turn of each season every player is judged on how he actually played, in each format separately. Runs and wickets are weighed against the pitches and the opposition he faced, and big matches count for more than ordinary ones. A strong season lifts his rating in that format only and a poor one lowers it: a great T20 season does nothing for his Test rating. A few innings say little, so small samples barely count.

BETTER

Cricket Manager: potential is no longer a hard ceiling. Sustained form can keep lifting a player past it, though it gets harder the further past it he goes.

BETTER

Cricket Manager: age, potential and current rating still shape growth. A young player with plenty of room develops faster, one near his ceiling slows, the very best are harder to lift, and a star declines a little less sharply with age.

BETTER

Cricket Manager: this applies to every player in the world, so rivals' stars rise and fall on their results too.
