HOW THE MATCH UNFOLDED

India won the toss and chose to bat. Vinoo Mankad, Vijay Hazare, Rusi Modi, Gul Mohammad, Abdul Kardar, Sadu Shinde, Jack Ikin, Frank Smailes and Alec Bedser played their first Tests.
