HOW THE MATCH UNFOLDED

India won the toss and chose to bat.

India batted first and made 290 all out. Sachin Tendulkar top-scored with 109 off 196 balls, and VVS Laxman made 69. Muthiah Muralidaran took 7 for 100 for Sri Lanka.
